We were leaving Masai Mara and headed for Lake Nakuru.

We thought we could view thousands of flamingoes, but there are not many flamingoes nowadays.  However, I still love Lake Nakuru because the weather was beautiful and we saw a leopard in this national park.  In my opinion, Lake Nakuru is my favorite national park so far.

Tips:  We chose Natural World to arrange our private tour.  They are very professional.  If you want to know how we chose Natural World, you can click here to view the procedure.

Way to Lake Nakuru

Leaving Masai Mara, we had to drive on the “massage road” again.  Maybe we had got used to driving on bumpy roads like that.  We did not feel uncomfortable this time!

Luckily, no sooner had we left the gate of Masai Mara Game Reserve than we saw a family of three cheetahs.  However, they ran so fast that we could not take a picture of them.

On the way to Lake Nakuru, there were a lot of farms and stalls selling vegetables and fruits.

It took us about 5 hours, and we arrived at Lake Nakuru.

The gate had rhino designs as if it told us we would see rhinos in this park.

Firstly, we saw herds of grazers.

Secondly, we viewed some Rothschild’s giraffes which are a different species from Masai giraffes.  Lake Nakuru is famous for Rothschild’s giraffes.

Evening Safari

We started our first safari in Lake Nakuru National Park at 3:45 pm.

Compared to Masai Mara, this park was smaller.  The people and vehicles were fewer and the trees and bushes were more.  However, the weather was more beautiful.

You can find all animals here except elephants.  However, it was hard to find game because of more trees and bushes.

Our first stop was Makalia Waterfall which was safe, so we got out of our vehicle to take some pictures.

As soon as we left the waterfall, we saw herds of grazers again.

Shortly after, we were excited for viewing rhinos!  In the middle of the picture, the two babies wanted to wake up their mother!  So sweet!

Moving forwards, we saw another rhino who was amongst a herd of deer.

The two deer stole the show!  The male deer wanted to mate with the female one, yet the female refused his advances!  Poor guy!

Afterwards, we came to Lake Nakuru.  We expected to see lots of flamingoes, but we could just view a few in the distance.  Therefore, we took some selfies.

Our guide explained that the water level had risen so that flamingoes had flown to Lake Bogoria.  Aden added that if we wanted to go there, it would have taken us about 6 hours and cost USD 250 (including entrance fee) for two persons.  Although we met some passengers who visited Lake Bogoria and told us the lake was beautiful, we decided not to go because of the long journey.  Thankfully, we did not go to Lake Bogoria, because good things happened the next day!  What was that?  Let me tell you ......

We saw other rhinos later.

Aden said we had good luck because some people stayed at this national park for two nights and they could not see any rhinos.

On the way to our hotel, I took a sweet picture of this family

I really like the cozy feeling and the weather in Lake Nakuru.

The next day, we would continue to stay in Lake Nakuru and find something wonderful!  And then we were going to Lake Naivasha.  Good night, my favorite Lake Nakuru!
