I really love Lake Nakuru!  Not only was the weather beautiful, but it also good for safari.  We stayed in Lake Nakuru this morning, and then went to Lake Naivasha in the afternoon.

Lake Nakuru

The water level of Lake Nakuru had raised so that flamingoes flew off to Lake Bogoria.  Out guide, Aden, said that if we wanted to go there, it would have taken us about 6 hours and costed USD 250 (including entrance fee) for two persons.  Although we met some passengers who visited Lake Bogoria and told us the lake was beautiful, we decided not to go because of the long journey.  Thankfully, we did not go to Lake Bogoria, because we got the last piece of our Big Five guest!

Aden told us he would take us to the other side of Lake Nakuru to try to see flamingoes.  He added that flamingos moved at night.  Maybe we would see flamingos today.  There were a lot of grazers on our way.

Aden drove the vehicle a bit fast.  Suddenly, he pulled our vehicle over and said there was a leopard!  He used the radio to inform other vehicles immediately.  My husband and I tried to spot in trees and bushes but couldn't.  After he finished his call, he felt surprised that we had not seen it!  He pointed it and suddenly we could see it!  Wow!  It was lying on a log elegantly!

It stayed on the log for a long time.  Later he got up, hid itself behind the tree and stared at us with its sharp eyes!

There were only three vehicles to view this leopard even though Aden called other guides.  Compared to Masai Mara, it was quieter and colder.  It is no wonder Lake Nakuru is my favorite national park in Kenya.

We were so excited!!  We had not thought we would have seen leopards here because few websites talked about viewing leopards in Lake Nakuru, but we did!!

Big Five!

Afterwards, we continued our journey to find flamingos.

There were lots of birds standing on buffalos’ backs.

We went to the viewing area first.  We got out of our vehicle to take some photos since this place was safe.

As soon as we got into our vehicle, Aden told us there were some flamingos by the lake.  Luckily, we saw more flamingos in the distance, yet we could not get close by car.  We got out of our vehicle and walked a bit to try to get closer.  Nonetheless, it was still far away.

Actually, we felt good viewing the flamingos even though it was far and there were not too many.  Maybe we could try Lake Bogoria next time to view more flamingos.

Just before leaving Lake Nakuru, the driver told us there were two sleeping lions.  They were too far away, so I could not take pictures of them.  We saw them through our binoculars.

Lake Naivasha

Leaving Lake Nakuru, we headed for Naivasha. The distance was the shortest during our tour.

We went to Lake Naivasha Country Club which we should have booked.  However, we were told they could not find our booking!  They still let us eat lunch first.  When we finished our lunch, my husband went to the counter and saw Aden was arguing with them.  Aden showed the confirmation to prove that we did book the room.  Later, Aden said we needed to take our luggage back to our vehicle and he would drive us to the boat ride first since the hotel promised to deal with this problem in two hours.  We asked Aden whether he had eaten lunch or not.  He skipped his lunch to tackle our booking!  We gave him some snacks, he smiled and said he could eat lunch during our boat ride.  We insisted on giving him those snacks to thank him for solveing this problem before embarking on the boat trip.

We took a private boat!  How excited we were to see the Big Five this morning!  Rarely does this happen!  That is the reason why our gestures were fives!

There were a lot of animals living here.

The boat driver fed eagles several times, but I could not take a good picture.  So sad …

Tip: During the boat ride, it was scorching hot.  Remember to put on sun screen and insect repellent.

When let our hair down to enjoy the picturesque view, suddenly a monkey jumped up on our balcony!

It looked like it had been overhearing what we were talking about.

It bowed a lot as if it was begging us to give it some food.

I felt scared!  In the bitter end, I jumped off the balcony from the other side and went back to the room through the main door.

Maybe it felt bored when we went back to the room, and it ran away ~~

We had good luck to see the Big Five in four days and really hoped we would be lucky enough to view Mt. Kilimanjaro the next day!
